Citing numerous errors, the New Jersey Supreme Court on June 1 overturned a $2.7 million damages award issued to a Hackensack woman whose car rear-ended a garbage truck.
Justice Anne Patterson, writing for the court in Torres v. Pabon, said the errors—which included mistaken jury instructions by Essex County Superior Court Judge Torkwase Sekou—deprived the defendants of a fair trial.
