The New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee on June 9 approved the tenure of Passaic County Judge Joseph Portelli, who a month earlier was publicly reprimanded by the state Supreme Court for his behavior while assigned to the Family Part.
The court, in a May 18 order, agreed with the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct that two of the three counts of misconduct filed against Portelli should be dismissed, but said he should receive a reprimand “for the entirety of [his] conduct.”
