In Austin v. Morris Plains Contracting, a Middlesex County jury awarded $8.2 million on May 6 to a construction worker who suffered a head injury after falling 18 feet on the job site.

But the net payout on the verdict will come to $6.06 million due to the jury’s partial apportionment of liability to the plaintiff and to two defendants who reached confidential settlements before trial.
