The second installment of the New Jersey Law Journal’s 40 highest-grossing firms and branches in the state shares some similarities with the “first 20″—familiar names abound, even among the handful of newcomers—but the “second 20″ can fairly be characterized as an eclectic group.

Space on the chart is shared by midsized New Jersey-based firms as well as branches of some of the largest and highest-grossing in the U.S. and beyond. In fact, exactly half the list is composed of homegrown firms, and the other half of firms based out of state. That represents what appears to be something of an ongoing shift (more on that below).
