After three years of law school, several months of bar review courses, countless hours and weekends holed up in the library rather than spending time with family and friends, you finally completed two to three days of bar exams—congratulations. The culmination of your legal education has concluded. So now what?
The post-bar exam lawyer usually fits within one of three categories: 1) those awaiting the start of a clerkship; 2) those ready to enter private practice; or 3) those who are still seeking employment. Regardless of which category you find yourself in, all post-bar exam lawyers should take some time to celebrate their accomplishments, recuperate from the bar prep marathon and then begin to prepare for what lies ahead. After all, this may be the last vacation time you have to yourself for a few years. Once you have recovered from all of the stress of the bar exam, it is essential to get back to work and prepare for the next professional chapter of your life.
