Partners for Women and Justice hosted its annual spring benefit to raise funds for their programs of free legal assistance for domestic violence victims on May 4 at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. At the benefit, Partners honored retired Superior Court Judge Thomas H. Dilts with the Partner in Justice Award. Judge Dilts was recognized for his career as a family court judge, his precedent-setting rulings, and the outstanding leadership and education he provided to the New Jersey judiciary with respect to domestic violence matters. Jeffrey Palumbo also received a Partner in Justice Award. Palumbo was honored for his hard work and dedication representing Partners’ clients and advocating on their behalf as a pro bono attorney. Partners for Women and Justice, a 501(c)(3) organization, empowers low-income victims and survivors of domestic violence to build safe and secure futures for themselves and their children by providing equal access to justice.

Simeone Elected President-Elect of New Jersey Women Lawyers Association

Annmarie Simeone, a partner with Norris McLaughlin & Marcus in Bridgewater, has been elected to serve as president-elect of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) for the 2016-17 term. She has served in various leadership positions with the NJWLA, including vice president, 2015-16, chief financial officer, 2014-15, secretary, 2013-14; co-chief operating officer, 2010-11; co-director of the Women’s Leadership Resources Committee, 2008-10; and chair of the Women’s Initiative and Leaders in Law Gala, 2011-13. The New Jersey Women Lawyers Association is an independent association with over 1,000 members. Its mission is to retain women in the legal profession through education and activism; to promote members to the highest levels of law firm, government, academic, community and corporate positions; and to endorse qualified female attorneys for appointments to the state and federal judiciary. Simeone concentrates her practice on labor and employment counseling and litigation. She earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1993, and her B.A., summa cum laude, from St. John’s University in 1990. She is admitted to the New Jersey bar and is a member of the New Jersey State, Somerset and Middlesex County Bar Associations, and the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey. In 2013, she was named the Outstanding Woman in Somerset County in the area of Law by the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women.
