Eight years ago, New Jersey joined other states and the federal government in enacting a whistleblower plan that compensates tipsters for claims against businesses that defraud government agencies.
The program allows the Attorney General’s Office to intervene on the plaintiff’s behalf, and rewards the whistleblower with 10 percent of any proceeds from a successful lawsuit.
