Three of the five counts have been dismissed from a federal suit against Gov. Chris Christie by a nurse who was placed in quarantine after caring for Ebola patients.
Kaci Hickox, who was held in an isolation tent outside a Newark hospital for three days upon returning from a mission to an Ebola treatment center in October 2014. She was quarantined under a state Ebola preparedness plan when she arrived at Newark Airport on the way home from Sierra Leone. Hickox claimed the quarantine was unnecessary because she tested negative for Ebola and because she wore protective gear while treating the Ebola patients. She was held in quarantine after Christie, who signed an executive order establishing the Ebola plan, defended the state’s measures at a news conference.
