The family of a man who died in a collision with a tractor-trailer agreed to a $1.75 million settlement on Aug. 26 in their Morris County suit, Peltz vs. Mountain View Development & Contracting.
Steven Peltz, 52, was driving on westbound Route 280 in Parsippany on Dec. 3, 2013, when his car collided with a trailer that had become detached. The tractor-trailer was in the right lane when the trailer detached, drifted into the far left lane, and hit the median, kicking up clouds of dust and dirt that obscured visibility. A witness said Peltz, who was driving in the left lane, apparently struck the trailer without seeing it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
