A federal judge in New Jersey has thrown out a case over the estate of Taiwanese billionaire Yung-Ching Wang, saying the suit is predicated mostly on issues arising under the laws of Taiwan and thus should proceed there.

The ruling, issued Monday by U.S. District Judge John Michael Vazquez of the District of New Jersey, came as a blow to the joint executors of the will of Wang’s late wife, who had entered the tangled legal fray to recover assets that were supposedly transferred out of Wang’s multibillion-dollar estate. They had tried to keep the case in New Jersey, arguing that most of the evidence was located in New Jersey and that the Taiwanese courts would be unable to fully grant the remedies they sought.
