Richard J. Badolato has had a rich career in the legal profession. To name but a few of his achievements, he served as president of the New Jersey State Bar Association from 2002 to 2003; was a respected trial attorney; and served as a partner at Roseland’s Connell Foley for decades. Today, Badolato is the commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI).

Badolato spoke recently from his sunshine-filled office in a downtown Trenton office building that is home to the state agency that regulates banks and insurance companies, and looks out for consumers, about his path from law clerk to cabinet member.
