Bridgegate defendants William Baroni Jr. and Bridget Kelly filed motions for a new trial Tuesday, faulting a number of missteps in the six-week trial which culminated in their convictions on conspiracy and fraud charges.

Baroni and Kelly asked for a mistrial to be declared based on evidence that a subset of the jurors continued deliberating without its entire contingent when U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton declared a break in the proceedings. And Kelly said she is entitled to a new trial because Wigenton constructively amended the indictment when she told the jury that the defendants could be found guilty of conspiracy without being intentionally punitive toward Mayor Mark Sokolich of Fort Lee.
