The recently vacated general counsel post at Valley National Bank has been filled by a New Jersey partner of Day Pitney who for decades has served as lead counsel in the bank’s mergers and acquisitions.
As of Jan. 3, Ronald Janis—who has been representing Valley since 1983—joined the Wayne-based bank as senior executive vice president and general counsel. He replaces Lucinda Long, who spent 25 years as the bank’s top in-house lawyer and retired, also effective Jan. 3.
