Bridgewater-based Norris McLaughlin & Marcus this Holiday season participated in the 2016 holiday gift drive as part of its commitment to the community. Sponsored by Safe+Sound Somerset, the gift drive helped fulfill the holiday wishes of many local families. Attorneys and staff contributed to a general wish list in support of Safe+Sound’s Holiday Store. The organization transformed their main conference room into a gift shop, stocked with donations, that allows their clients to make gift selections for their families. Children also “shopped” for a special holiday present for moms, siblings and those important to them. All gifts selected were provided at no charge to the client’s families. Safe+Sound Somerset is a nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to serving victims of domestic abuse in Somerset County. Its mission is to end domestic abuse and empower victims by providing protection, education and resources to victims and their families.
‘Team Mandelbaum’ Raises Nearly $8K for Local Charities in 2016
“Team Mandelbaum,” the charitable events arm of Mandelbaum Salsburg in Roseland, raised nearly $8,000 in 2016 for local charities. To raise the money, the firm participated in “denim days” one Friday a month, whereby all attorneys and staff can donate a minimum of $5 and wear jeans to work for the day. The money collected is then given to a different charity each month. Donations in 2016 went to such organizations as St. Jude’s, For Scout Foundation, Caldwell Food Bank, One Step Closer Animal Rescue, Autism New Jersey and others. In addition, many of the firm’s employees participated in a fundraising bike ride for Go the Distance for Autism, which benefits Alpine Learning Group, The EPIC School, Garden Academy, Institute for Educational Achievement and REED Academy—five leading programs on the forefront of autism care and services. Team Mandelbaum also coordinated participation in a 5K run to benefit the Park Avenue Foundation and the Morristown Corporate Challenge. “Team Mandelbaum” is made up of attorneys and staff of the firm, and meets bimonthly to organize charitable activities within the firm.
