A former vice president of claims for Chubb Corp. claims in a suit that he was fired for complaining about the destruction of evidence in cases the company was litigating. Meanwhile, the company has filed a separate complaint in federal court seeking to compel arbitration in the case.
The suit by Anthony Guerriero says officials at the company destroyed documents and tapes pertaining to numerous lawsuits involving the company, disregarding notices from the legal department about preserving evidence. And the suit says that in April 2016, a few months after he spoke with a supervisor about destruction of evidence and reported conduct code violations on the company’s compliance portal, he was informed by voicemail that he was being terminated.
