New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed legislation that will regulate and restrict the use of payment assurance devices on automobiles, which are attached to cars and trucks under finance and will disable the ignition if the owner falls behind in his or her payments.

Christie signed the bill, A756, into law on Wednesday without comment, less than two weeks after the Senate gave final legislative approval to changes that he had recommended in a Feb. 13 conditional veto.
