Even though he no longer rides on a regular basis, Armand Leone’s life has revolved around horses as much as his careers in law and medicine.

The son of doctors from Oakland, Leone began riding at an early age, competing as a teenager, show jumping at the highest international levels for 12 years and then becoming involved in building the sport at an organizational level. He was in charge of the U.S. Equestrian Team, which oversaw U.S. participation in international events such as the Olympics and the World Cup. And more recently, he volunteers as a member of the FEI tribunal, a semi-independent international body that handles issues of doping and other rules violations in the sport.
