With the economic boom of the 1990s and the low unemployment rates it was relatively simple to show that in many occupations, no U.S. workers were available for many positions. But in this sluggish economy, how do employers keep foreign national employees who are most valued by the company?
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, in the weeks immediately following Sept. 11, employers reported 430 events involving 125,637 workers who lost their jobs as a direct or indirect effect of the attacks.
