Superior Court Judges Edith Payne and Jose Fuentes have been appointed to the Appellate Division, the state judiciary announced last Monday. Their appointments take effect on Aug. 1.
Fuentes, who sits in Hudson County’s Civil Part, first went on the bench in 1982 as a municipal court judge in Union City, appointed by Mayor Robert Menendez. In 1993, Gov. James Florio appointed him to the Superior Court. He sat in the Family Part and later in the Criminal Part before moving to his current post. He was assigned temporarily to the Appellate Division from April 28 until May 18.
