Adding legal reversal to public scorn, a state appeals court on Friday found that a Bergen County judge erred in granting probation to a former teacher who admitted having a sexual relationship with her 13-year-old student.

The Appellate Division agreed with prosecutors that Superior Court Judge Bruce Gaeta improperly deviated from the well-established presumption of imprisonment for second-degree crimes.
