Having blocked the candidacy of a Pennsylvania district court judge for a Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ seat traditionally filled by a New Jersey resident, Sens. Robert Torricelli and Jon Corzine said last week they are confident the vacancy will be filled by a lawyer from their state.
A district judge in Newark and one in Trenton have been interviewed for the post, according to lawyers and officials familiar with the selection process. One source says state judges and lawyers are also being considered.
