The impending retirement of Justice Gary Stein, effective Sept. 1, gives the McGreevey administration the opportunity to demonstrate its responsiveness to the needs of southern New Jersey by nominating one of its residents to the state Supreme Court.
With the Stein vacancy, McGreevey should seize the opportunity to restore a measure of good will and grant to southern New Jersey residents what was denied to them by the last administration and nine previous administrations: a seat on the state’s highest court.
