State v. Meekins

A defendant sentenced to an extended term under the original, pre-amendment No Early Release Act is only subject to parole ineligibility for the maximum ordinary term portion of the sentence; this decision does not restrict the trial court's discretion to impose a longer period of parole ineligibility on an extended-term sentence if authorized by statute.
