The word "may" in N.J.S.A. 20:3-25 is mandatory, and in a condemnation action where a condemnee makes an application under the statute for an order compelling a condemnor to either file a declaration of taking and make the required deposit of compensation offered the condemnee or abandon the proceedings, the court is mandated to grant the relief sought; the court has discretion to extend the time for filing the declaration of taking for up to three months from the date the condemnee files the application.
