One of the nation’s largest banks says an Atlanta lawyer has “refused” to return almost $1 million she was holding for the bank as part of land-condemnation settlements from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Bank of America filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in Atlanta on Sept. 25, seeking a jury trial and an award in an amount exceeding $941,101, which the bank claims The Stark Firm and its managing member Erin Stark received from superior courts in two counties and placed in the firm’s IOLTA account without the bank’s knowledge.
