With less than a week until Election Day, the creeping tide of election cases has reached the U.S. Supreme Court and appears to be rising fast.

It’s only been about a month since the justices returned from their summer recess to resume hearing their usual variety of civil and criminal cases. The nation’s nine most powerful jurists, have been largely spared from the deluge of litigation over the 2024 election that has swamped lower federal and state courts around the country.
