Malaysia and Singapore are creating a special economic zone aimed at boosting foreign investment in the region and attracting international law firms to Kuala Lumpur, government minister Azalina Othman Said said in an exclusive interview with Law.com International in Paris.

Azalina, whose official title is Malaysian Minister of Law and Institutional Reform, said the new economic zone, as well as reform of Malaysia’s 2005 law on commercial arbitration, should attract tech and data companies and, by extension, the law firms needed to service them.
