Our colleagues at The American Lawyer unveiled their annual list of the top lateral hires in Big Law in an online feature that went live last week as part of their broader package on the law firm lateral market. Despite mounting economic uncertainty, lateral partner hiring involving Am Law 200 firms rose by 18% in the 2022 fiscal year, compared with the same period in the year prior. The 43-lawyer hire Paul Hastings made from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan—just about the entirety of Stroock’s restructuring practice—understandably took the top spot of Am Law’s top 25 list. But we counted eight litigation hires among the rest of the moves Am Law says “left the biggest imprint on the industry in 2022 for the impact they had on their former organization, the value they brought to their new firm or the major industry trend they represent.”
