The expansion of the legal tech industry in recent years has seen a profusion of new startups and business models, as legal services providers and legal technology companies look to bring efficiencies to the evolving legal market.

Avantia Law founder James Sutton has gone for a model that isn’t as easily defined in today’s market, starting a law firm that develops proprietary technology to provide end-to- end service provision for tasks such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols. The firm, which builds digital agents to assist its attorneys with the more routine parts of their tasks, specializes in serving financial clients. This combination of legal oversight, technological development, and service provision gives Avantia some of the attributes of a law firm, an ALSP, and a tech provider all at once.
