On behalf of Legal Week, thank you to all of those who attended the Trusts and Estates Litigation Forum 2019.

As we entered our thirteenth year, we moved to the Hotel Camiral in breath-taking Girona and welcomed back Dakis Hagen QC of Serle Court and Nicholas Holland of McDermott Will & Emery as Trust & Estates Litigation co-chairs.

Nick, Dakis, our Global Ambassadors (Shân Warnock- Smith QC and Anthony Poulton) and our Advisory Board did a fantastic job in sourcing fresh content in 2019.

Session highlights included:

  • Developments in the law of breach of trust
  • Jurisdiction complexities in the context of HNWIs with cross-border lives, including the stark differences in regards to discovery, trial procedures and practices between common law and civil law jurisdictions, and among nations within each
  • Enforcement of judgments post- Brexit
  • Legal professional privilege: Under attack?
  • New enforcement strategies in divorce awards against trustees: Akhmedov and beyond

We also had creative “My case is bigger than yours” pitches and interactive breakouts, both of which received tremendous feedback.

Lastly, we were extremely grateful for the rare keynote interview with The Rt Hon. The Lord Mance P.C., Former Deputy President of the Supreme Court, UK, whose life story before, during and after holding the highest judicial office was insightful, entertaining and unique.

I hope you enjoy reading our Post Event Report for 2018, whilst we curate the 2019 version.

Do contact me personally if you are interested in attending in 2020.
