Colin is Counsel in Maurice Turnor Gardner’s Private Wealth team, and was appointed as Head of Immigration in May 2023. Colin specialises in the complex demands of UHNW clients, relating to their personal or their professional circumstances and is adept at managing their general mobility both within and outside the UK. Colin’s immigration advice combines tax, succession and wider estate planning knowledge and he has substantial experience working with foreign advisors, where necessary. Colin can also work in French.
Question : What drew you to specialise in private client law/ wealth advisory?
Answer: The opportunity to work with client on their most emotive issues coupled with the technical aspect of the work.
Question : For lawyers entering private client law, what are key skills you think are essential?
Answer: An ability to empathise with clients, patience and a strong interest in black letter law.
Question : With the evolving landscape of the private client world, what are recent trends or shifts you are excited to explore?
Answer: There is an imbalance between the proposed new UK tax regime, and the current UK immigration options available to clients, so it will be interesting to see how the two areas develop under the new Government,
