Professional Biography

An experienced private wealth advisor, Emily provides international tax and private wealth advice to families and trustees of family trusts on a variety of issues. Her areas of expertise include establishing wealth preservation structures such as offshore trusts, foundations and companies, family governance and business succession planning, advice on residence and domicile, the reporting of beneficial ownership and structuring the acquisition and ownership of UK residential property. Many of Emily’s clients are international, meaning much of her work has a cross border element, and entrepreneurial, requiring her to advise on both the personal and business aspects of her clients' lives.

Question : What drew you to specialise in private client law/ wealth advisory?

Answer: I love a challenge, and the ever-changing and complicated world of tax certainly keeps me on my toes. I am also nosy, and I love the insight that I get into other people's worlds, families and businesses as their trusted advisor.

Question : For lawyers entering private client law, what are key skills you think are essential?

Answer: Empathy and emotional intelligence, as well as common sense! These all help you to put yourself in the client's shoes, which enables you to give advice that answers their questions and helps them achieve their objectives.

Question : With the evolving landscape of the private client world, what are recent trends or shifts you are excited to explore?

Answer: I'm definitely not excited to explore the non-dom changes, although this is certainly a key area where clients need help right now. If we can survive those changes, I'm excited to continue to see the impact of the great wealth transfer, and of course to s
