Professional Biography

Ivan is a US Tax and Private Client Lawyer at Butler Snow LLP in Singapore focusing on trusts and estates, immigration and expatriation, real estate, wealth management, and IRS compliance. Ivan is a native Chinese speaker and is a member of the California bar. Ivan holds the TEP designation. Ivan represents many of the wealthiest families in Asia, particularly those who originate from the Greater China region. Ivan graduated from UCLA School of Law (J.D.), NYU School of Law (LL.M. in Tax Law), and Queen's University (First Class Honours B.Comm. in Finance). At UCLA, Ivan was unanimously selected by the UCLA tax faculty as the "most outstanding tax law student" of the graduating class and awarded the Bruce I. Hochman Award for Excellence in the Study of Tax Law. At Queen's, Ivan was awarded the Harry Abramsky Prize in Hebrew.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Exercise everyday, sleep eight hours a day, and do not overeat.

Expansion of practice areas beyond conventional tax and trust/estate planning.
