Joana Marques Alves is a senior lawyer of the Private Clients team at RFF Lawyers. She joined the firm in 2020 and specializes in tax, working with Private Clients for the last 8 years. With a vast experience working with high-net-worth individuals she assisted clients from various jurisdictions (Brazil, USA, UK, France, Middle East, among others) relocating to Portugal while giving advice on tax matters related to the clients’ assets and international corporate structures. Along with tax expertise, she has also been accompanying the clients’ relocation from an immigration perspective, which complements her experience. Joana is also a guest lecturer at the NOVA School of Law course on Tax Aspects Related to the International Mobility, promoted jointly with JurisNOVA.

Question : What drew you to specialise in private client law/ wealth advisory?

Answer: I have started my professional experience within taxation field and swiftly started to handle with international matters. This path led me to the private client’s sector which allowed me to conjugate the challenge of working within international taxation
