Professional Biography

Johannes is a partner of the firm since more than 20 years and heads the private client team within Gasser Partner, a Chambers and Legal500 tier one and full service firm. Having taken over the trust business of Credit Suisse Trust Liechtenstein recently, Johannes will focus on private client work, whilst continuing advising and representing private clients in and out of court in all areas of foundation and trust law. Johannes is a frequent lecturer at the universities of Vaduz and Innsbruck , and his commentary on foundation law is considered by courts and practice as the leading authority.

What is your favorite restaurant to take a client or colleague to?

The Sonnenhof (famous for the fois gras and buttered ray wings) and the Torkkel (owned by the Princely Family) certainly are the must-eat-in restaurants in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Sleep over the momentous strategic decisions of your clients' cases, reconsider them over night and pass them only on the next morning (and if they are still the right ones).

What was your first job?

A bus boy in a French restaurant in the USA back in 1991.

What changes do you expect to see in your practice over the next year?

Many practitioners will face the risk of being fined or targeted by authorities for failing to properly respond to new and ever increasing regulatory challenges, which may have a negative impact on their clients and their practice.
