Don’t bring problems; bring solutions. Although this advice now seems to be outdated (if you read HBR), it has served me well and encouraged me to think creatively and constructively when things haven’t always gone my way.

The Art of Advice: How to Give It and How to Take It by Jeswald Salacuse. It can apply to many scenarios, whether dealing with clients, colleagues or teenage children.
