Professional Biography

Leonora’s focus is providing tax advisory and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, wealthy families and partnerships. Her client base ranges from landed estates with their accompanying enterprises, to owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs from both inception through to ultimate sale. In all cases, her primary interests are in advising the individual family members whose wealth is derived from these enterprises and helps them work towards their overall objectives, whether it be succession or mitigation of tax liabilities. She is the lead adviser for many large intergenerational family groups, advising both the grandparent generation with succession planning, down to the next generation with business plans for their start-ups, and then onto looking at how to fund school fees for the grandchildren. Leonora joined Saffery in 2012 and is both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor. Leonora is also responsible for overseeing 120 staff in Saffery’s Bristol office and is the co-host of the firm’s Private Wealth podcast series.

Question : What drew you to specialise in private client law/ wealth advisory?

Answer: The opportunity to build long term relationships with clients and help them achieve their goals. The ultimate aim is to be a client’s trusted advisor, by taking an interest in knowing each client’s situation and adopting an objectives driven, personalised

Question : With the evolving landscape of the private client world, what are recent trends or shifts you are excited to explore?

Answer: With the Budget in October 2024, there is a huge amount of work to be done regarding Inheritance Tax and the proposed changes and how they will impact many of my clients. Therefore I see my role as being able to support them through these changes.

Question : Where is your favourite place to take a peer for a cocktail or coffee?

Answer: I live in Bath (but work in Bristol and London) and my favourite place to go for a coffee is a Scandinavian coffee shop called Mjolk, right in front of Bath Abbey. Great coffee and cinnamon buns!
