The Los Angeles County Probation Department was slapped with an employment class action on March 12 in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County. The lawsuit, brought by Peter Law Group, accuses the department of discriminating against probation officers on the basis of medical disability. The complaint alleges that probation officers' requests for reasonable accommodations in having more limited contact with youth offenders were denied, and that they were forced to either serve in a juvenile detention facility or ordered not to return to work until medically clear.
