Toyota and other defendants were hit with a consumer class action on Friday in Florida Southern District Court. The complaint accuses Toyota of misleading consumers about its trucks' emissions systems and fuel economy performance. The suit comes on the heels of an August 2 press release by defendant Hino Motors, a Toyota subsidiary, admitting 'long-term misconduct concerning applications for engine certification' due to 'prioritizing meeting schedules and numerical goals over due processes.' The complaint was filed by Podhurst Orseck, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein and Baron & Budd. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 1:22-cv-22483, Express Freight International et al. v. Hino Motors Ltd. et al.
