Medtronic, Elutia f/k/a Aziyo Biologics and other defendants were named in a product liability lawsuit on April 24 in Maryland Circuit Court for Prince George's County. The suit, filed by Bertram & Murphy, Morris James LLP and Saltz Mongeluzzi & Bendesky on behalf of Mark Swartz and Wanda Swartz, is part of a string of cases brought on behalf of patients who allegedly developed tuberculosis after being implanted with the defendants' FiberCel Fiber Viable Bone Matrix, which was recalled in June 2021. The case is C-16-CV-24-001963, Swartz et al. v. Elutia Inc. et al.
