Attorneys from Morrison & Foerster and Latham & Watkins have entered appearances for OpenAI Inc., developer of the ChatGpt AI language generator and Dall-E AI image generator, in a pending class action. The complaint, filed Aug. 2 in California Northern District Court by Bursor & Fisher on behalf of YouTube users and video creators, accuses the defendant of transcribing YouTube videos to create training datasets that the defendant uses to train its AI products without the authorization of the users and creators. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Edward J. Davila, is 5:24-cv-04710, Millette v. OpenAI, Inc. et al.
