Schaffer Mcintosh & Effertz and attorney Steven Effertz were slapped with a legal malpractice lawsuit on Sept. 28 in Missouri Circuit Court for Jackson County. The suit was filed by the Protzman Law Firm on behalf of Stacey Young, who retained the defendants to file a personal injury lawsuit on her behalf after she was crushed by an elevator door. According to the complaint, the defendants did not file a claim before the statute of limitations expired because the defendants misinterpreted laws pertaining to COVID-related extensions. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2316-CV25822, Young v. Effertz et al.
