BuzzFeed and Vox Media were sued for copyright infringement on Aug. 15 in Missouri Western District Court. The suit was filed by Avek IP on behalf of Stephanie Campbell, a photographer who has accused hundreds of publishers and media companies of unlawfully reprinting her photo of Katie Sowers, the NFL's first openly gay and second full-time female coach, on the San Francisco 49ers sideline. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 4:23-cv-00577, Campbell v. Vox Media Inc. et al.
