The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit on Aug. 23 in New Jersey District Court accusing a defendant of engaging in cryptocurrency asset securities fraud. The court action accuses John A. DeSalvo of defrauding investors of over $623,00 by selling unregistered 'Blazar tokens' while failing to inform them that purchases would occur via automatic paycheck deductions. Lawyers have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:23-cv-08092, Securities and Exchange Commission v. Desalvo.
