Grillo's Pickles and counsel at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan sued investment bank Harris Williams LLC on Aug. 28 in Virginia Eastern District Court. The suit accuses the defendant, a subsidiary of PNC Financial Services, of misappropriating and disclosing proprietary pickle recipes in furtherance of its efforts to sell Patriot Pickle Inc., a company that contracted with Grillo's in a co-packing agreement. According to the suit, Patriot violated an NDA and other agreements by using Grillo's trade secret recipes to produce a line of pickles under the Whole Foods 365 label and Harris Williams has disclosed the recipes as it markets Patriot to potential buyers. Counsel have not yet appeared for Harris Williams. The case is 3:23-cv-00547, Grillos Pickles, Inc. v. Harris Williams LLC.
