Walmart and other defendants were hit with a civil rights lawsuit on Oct. 12 in Michigan Western District Court. The court action was filed by William F. Piper PLC on behalf of John Thompson, who alleges that he was arrested with excessive force after eating grapes in the store to prevent a diabetic crash. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 1:23-cv-01089, Thompson v. Walmart Stores East Inc.
