New Suit - Trademark

The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office was named in a lawsuit on July 1 in Virginia Eastern District Court challenging the refusal to register the mark 'One Love Manchester' in connection with a charity concert held by singer Ariana Grande honoring individuals who were killed or injured in the May 2017 bombing of her show in Manchester, England. The suit was filed by Hinshaw & Culbertson and Adelman Matz P.C. on behalf of GrandAri, a company owned by Grande, and is the plaintiff's latest of several attempts over the years to get a mark for the event approved. The defendant has referenced other companies which use the term 'One Love' in their names to justify its rejections. The case is 1:24-cv-01140, Grandari, Inc. v. Vidal.
