United Natural Foods, an organic and specialty food distributor, was sued on July 5 in Georgia Northern District Court over alleged employment discrimination. The lawsuit was filed by the Kirby G. Smith Law Firm on behalf of John Van Steenbergh, the former Director of Operations for United Natural. The plaintiff, a white male, contends that he was terminated because he exhibited 'values inconsistent' with United Natural after he fired a Black employee for insubordination and refusing multiple orders to return to work.
