New Suit - Patent

Samsung Electronics, the South Korean device maker, and other defendants were hit with a patent infringement lawsuit on Aug. 5 in Texas Eastern District Court. The court case, asserting two patents related to microprocessors and memory devices, was filed by Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders and Ward, Smith & Hill on behalf of President and Fellows of Harvard College. The suit contends that Samsung's devices containing Snapdragon 8 microprocessors or LPDDR5X DRAM memory chips infringe patents for inventions by Harvard Professor Roy G. Gordon and associates. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:24-cv-00636, President and Fellows of Harvard College v. Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd.
