Meta Platforms, Facebook, Instagram and Siculus were hit with a lawsuit Monday in Georgia Northern District Court. The complaint, brought by Beasley Allen Crow Methvin Portis & Miles on behalf of Megan Waddell, is part of a string of cases contending that the social media giants intentionally design their platforms to be addictive to minors, who can easily become depressed, develop eating disorders, become victims of cyberbullying or suffer other deleterious effects. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:22-cv-00112, Waddell v. Meta Platforms, Inc. et al.
